Last summer I got to learn the ins and outs of the pipeline at this prestigious animation studio where lighters actually code their lights in a text editor, with no GUI. After several weeks of in-house training I got several chances to take a shot to absolute perfection in Nuke on "The Peanuts Movie". There's a reason Blue Sky makes some of the most visually stunning films on the planet on less than a $100 million budget. The artists there are incredible.
I lit master shots from scratch and did shot specific tweaks to light-rigs all while learning what it takes to take make a shot absolutely stunning.
RAM'S HORN - WINNER OF A STUDENT EMMY
I spent all of 2014 creating this collaborative short film at BYU with a group of incredibly talented and driven students. As the Producer and CG Supervisor collaborated with everyone from Director, Editor, Sound, Professors and every student on an individual basis.
I got to learn some of the most valuable lessons of my entire life, how to work with people and create something awesome.
Because of the success of the film and what we learned, our group has now been employed at Pixar, Dreamworks, Sony, Blue Sky, Pixomondo, Hasboro, GM, SideFX, LucasFilm, Disney and various other studios since the film's conclusion.
